Healing Country – a bushcare and cultural immersion experience

Add to calendar

Spend a few hours experiencing a beautiful and much-loved patch of native bushland, protected by Heritage Agreement, in Kaurna Country, on the Fleurieu Peninsula.

Participants will be welcomed to Country by senior Aboriginal man, Mickey Kumatpi Marrutya O’Brien, then take part in a 90 minute bushcare session led by Trees For Life staff.

After rolling up your sleeves to work on Country, enjoy a light lunch around the fire and cultural knowledge and stories shared by Uncle Mickey.

Please bring a fold up chair, water, and a snack. Tea and coffee will be provided. Participants should wear suitable clothing: hat, long pants, long-sleeved shirt and covered footwear.

No prior knowledge or experience is required. All the training, equipment and personal safety gear will be provided on the day by our friendly staff.

Please note there is uneven terrain on site and bushcare work requires kneeling, bending and some squatting. Participants may also need to walk a short distance from their cars to the site.

Any children (17 or under) must be accompanied by a parent/guardian. This activity is suited to ages 5+.

If you know other participants please consider car-pooling.

Detailed directions to the property location will be emailed to registrants before event.
